AvEG-Kon and ATIK call for actions against political coup

The European Confederation of Oppressed Immigrants (AvEG-Kon) and the European Confederation of Workers from Turkey (ATIK), issued statements on the political coup witnessed in the Turkish Parliament on Thursday.

The AvEG-Kon said: "There is a fascist, racist, unitary, barbaric cruelty scheme being implemented in Turkey targeting mainly Kurds, but also women, intellectuals, journalists.”

Emphasizing that what happened was the manifestation of the hundred-year-old colonial policy of the Turkish bourgeoisie, AvEG-Kon added: "The Kurdish people have never been short of alternatives to ensure their political rights. Today the problem is enlarging these alternatives to achieve political freedom and democracy for the people of Turkey.”

ATIK also emphasized that the latest political coup was a blow to “the will of the people. The AKP-MHP issued an amnesty law for murderers, rapists and the mafia mobs using the coronavirus pandemic to empty the prisons of these people while leaving inside the revolutionaries, the opposition, the mayors elected with the will of the people.”

The statement added: "We call on the European people to be sensitive. All the institutions and individuals who are responsible for protecting the will of the people, especially the democratic forces and immigrant institutions in Europe, should raise their voice against this coup.”
