The Conscience and Justice Watch led by Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) parliamentarians in Musa Anter Park in Van city is in its 3rd day. After HDP and Democratic Regions’ Party (DBP) representatives paid a visit to the vigil, a speech was held by HDP spokesperson Osman Baydemir who started with saluting the co-chairs of the HDP, Figen Yüksekdağ und Selahattin Demirtaş.
Calling politics the field where social problems get solved, Baydemir said, "If one looks at it in a democratic manner, politics is in truth the art to solve problems by means of dialogue, but not through enmity and hostility."
Baydemir remarked that there can be no democracy without criticism towards the ruling system, and said: "When a leader swells and calls critics on him acts of high treasons, then you call it dictatorship. It's everywhere the same, that the rule on one’s own corrupts the people. Now see yourself, you are the leader of the AKP sitting as a ruler on the throne for 15 years. Don't forget that unilateral rule corrupts inevitably. So it can't be that you call critics that are directed towards you, as acts of treason. This can't be in democracies."
“YOU DISPLAY YOUR OWN DEFEAT”
Baydemir continued his remarks to the state as, "These are 4 four years that you have lost already, but nonetheless to keep yourselves on the throne, you violated all human values against those that expressed themselves in all these years. Where is your promise to lift the state of emergency? Previously we had a state of emergency to put up with in only 6 cities, but now we have it in 81 cities. What became of the words that the elected representatives will keep their assigned posts? You have thrown all elected parliamentarians, co-mayors and co-leaders into jail.
You just prove with such acts that you are defeated. Remember, you claimed to do something against the excessive military presence. It ended - indeed - by virtue of the common struggle of democratic forces, but you replaced it with a domination of total fascism."
“IN THE END YOU WILL REGRET IT”
Baydemir continued: "If you had listened to the voice of the opposition, the voice of Demirtaş, the voice of intellectuals and political analysts, you wouldn't have been corrupted. There is no democracy without opposition. Something like that is called a one-person regime. But even that regime will have to regret at the end."
Baydemir finished his speech with the words, "To clean away the filth, and to protect this country from getting dirtier and more embarrassed, we will stop the fascism."
