Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Gültan Kışanak issued a message of condolence for Medeni Yıldırım who was killed by soldiers during yesterday's demo against the construction of military posts in the village of Yakacık in Diyarbakır's Lice district.

Kışanak said that the armed attack against the people who were just joining a demo against the construction of military posts was a massacre attempt.

Kışanak remarked that the people joining the demo were all civilians and unarmed villagers, and evaluated the armed attack against them as an explicit murder and a bloody provocation. Kışanak said one of those wounded in the attack was in very critical condition and pointed out that the soldiers opened fire on people by directly pointing the protestors as a target.

BDP co-chair said the Kurdish people should maintain their common sense and avoid being effected by provocations, adding; "It should be known that those responsible for the bloody attack, in which one person was killed and ten others wounded, will no doubt be called to book. Those who carried out this attack, who gave the order for it and who organized provocations must urgently be brought to trial. The governor, the head official and the commander of Lice, those directly responsible for this bloody attack, must immediately be relieved of duty".

Kışanak extended condolences to the family of Medeni Yıldırım and the Kurdish people and called on democratic public opinion to display sensitvity towards the massacre attempt.
