Demonstrations by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) in Silopi, Cizre and Yüksekova districts have once again been attacked by police today with tear gas and pressured water.
Thousands of demonstrators who were prevented by armed vehicles when starting a march to the AKP building to protest against recent operations by the Turkish army started a sit-in act in Nur Neighborhood of Silopi district of Þýrnak. A clash broke out between police and demonstrators who suffered from gas bombs thrown despite the talks BDP executives held with police officials. Events are reported to continue in side streets.
Police attached a march in Yüksekova district of Hakkari organized after the funeral ceremonies of HPG members Aynur Kýrbaþ and Reþat Aslan. Young demonstrators responded to police from the barricades they built on Van highway, at Freedom Square and in Güngör Neighborhood. Events continue in the district.
On the other hand, a march leaded by BDP Cizre District Organization was staged in Cizre district of Þýrnak to protest the operations in Kazan Valley where 36 guerrillas and seven HPG members, including KCK Council member Rüstem Cudi (Rüstem Osman), HPG Military Council members Guhar Çekirge (Çiçek Kýçi), Aliþer Koçgiri (Yücel Halis), lost their life. Thousands of people marched to Cudi Neighborhood for the islamic memorial service performed for HPG Council member Guhar Çekirge (Çiçek Kýçi) who lost her life in the air assaults carried out by the Turkish army in Xakurke and Xinere regions on 10 October.
The march, which started in front of BDP building and ended in Cudi Neighborhood in accompany with slogan “Martyrs are immortal”, was joined by tens of thousands as well as BDP PM member Mahmut Çelik, BDP Þýrnak District Chair Baki Sondak, BDP Cizre District Executives, Cizre Deputy Mayor Mustafa Gören and members of provincial and city councils.
Speaking after the march, BDP Þýrnak District Chair Baki Sondak said that; “Nobody can exterminate the Kurdish people who have been giving a dignified struggle for many years now. None of the policies of pressure and assimilation will dissuade Kurds from their dignified case.”
