The committee of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) on 20 February met President of Federal Kurdistan Regional Government, Massoud Barzani and former head of government, Berhem Salih after attending a conference which was the day before held in Hewler city for the 66th anniversary of Mahabad Republic's establishment.
The meeting with Barzani which was held closed to press is reported to have handled current developments about Kurdistan National Conference. Following the meeting with Barzani, the committee met Berhem Salih.
At early morning hours on 20 February, the committee visited the Maxmur Camp which hosts over 10 thousand immigrants from Northern Kurdistan. The committee had talks with both authorities and inhabitants of the camp.
In a short speech in front of Maxmur Culture and Art Center, DTK Co-Chair Ahmet Türk referred to the works performed for the unity of Kurds and remarked that Kurds should make a decision in this historical process.
Türk pointed out to the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and said that; “The AKP government furthers the isolation because it doesn’t want to solve the problem through the way of dialogue. However, the government obtains no results from the attempts it has made in this direction.”
The committee will return to Turkey today and join the hunger strike act by BDP and Block deputies in Ankara.
