BDP filed criminal complaint on Roboski massacre

The BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) filed criminal complaints against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan, Interior Affairs minister Ýdris Naim Þahin, minister of Justice Sadullah Ergin, General Chief of Staff Necdet Özel, National Intelligence Agency (MÝT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces Hayri Kývrýkoðlu, Commander of the Turkish Air Forces Mehmet Erten and the authorities controlling the unmanned air vehicle (UAV) in connection with the village of Roboski massacre where 34 civilians, including 17 children, were killed as a result of an air raid on December 28.

The crime was defined a crime against humanity and slaughter in the complaint which said "Witnesses said the victims went over the border within the knowledge of the soldiers. The villagers spoke with the victims and the soldiers commander for an hour and a half on the phone before the massacre. The massacre was done despite the authorities' knowledge that the group was unarmed and consisted of civilians."

It was also stated in the complaint that the government bodies did not send ambulances to the area and 13 injured died because of lack of help. "The bombs used, the way of targeting, the ruptured and burnt bodies of victims, the annihilation of all living beings in the area are proof of a deliberate, planned and intentional operation," said the complaint.

BDP Kulp Branch Chair Eyüp Yakut said that the Roboski massacre as well as the ongoing KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) operations are in fact the continuation of the conspiracy which on 15 February 1999 brought to the capture of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. Yakut noted that all of these operations aimed to eliminate the Kurdish struggle.
