BDP held district congresses in Istanbul

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Istanbul organization has determined its new direction at the congresses held in eight districts on 19 February. While the congresses ended up with decisions to take to the streets in a stronger way, BDP Istanbul MP Sebahat Tuncel called on the Kurdish people to enhance struggle and to take to streets on 8 March and at the day Newroz.

Procedures for membership to BDP were fulfilled at the congresses which were held in the districts of Sarýyer, Kaðýthane, Kadýköy, Bayrampaþa, Baðcýlar, Bahçelievler, Baþakþehir and Beylikdüzü with the participation of hundreds of party members and citizens.

Speaking at the congress in Sarýyer, BDP MP Sebahat Tuncel pointed out that these congresses are the Kurdish people's response to the AKP government in the process of uninterrupted intense arrests. Referring to the statements which claim a relationship between MIT (National Intelligence Organization) and the KCK (Kurdish Communities Union), Tuncel called attention to the attempts of bringing the Kurdish people's struggle into discredit and called for awareness towards these fabricated discourses.

Tuncel remarked that the Kurdish people have a difficult process ahead of them in the coming spring period and added the followings; "While the people of Kurdistan are held prisoner in Imralý, it is quite obvious that there will be no solution unless this imprisonment policy is ended. March 8th and the day of Newroz will be the times to show that Kurds have hit the streets. We shall enhance our struggle."
