BDP respond to minister on jailed professor

In a press conference organized by the BDP, party Deputy Co-chair Filiz Koçali, BDP Co-chair Lawyer Meral Tanýþ Beþtaþ, Responsible for Law and Human Rights, stated that they would file a criminal complaint today against Interior Minister Ýdris Naim Þahin who claimed yesterday that KCK detainee Prof. Büþra Ersanlý was giving lessons about how to divide Turkey at BDP Politics Academy.

“We are watching with dismay that they are trying to show everyone, connected with the party in any way, as the usual suspects.” said Beþtaþ and commented the recent developments as the “period of a coming coup”. Beþtaþ also criticized the media’s attitude within this process and noted that their sounds weren’t reflected by the media.

“The danger is great. There is an effort to suppress and silence everyone by means of judiciary. We are facing with a preparation for the declaration of our party as completely illegal”, added Beþtaþ.

Responding to Interior Minister Þahin’s statements where he argued that ‘the arrest of professors is usual’, BDP Deputy Co-Chair noted that the arrest of Prof. Ersanlý intended to give a serious message to the academic world. Beþtaþ demanded that the Interior Minister urgently announce the source and base of his argument that Ersanlý was involved in the urban structuring of KCK and gave lessons targeting Turkey’s division by using her title.
