BDP trial attacked by police

The trial of 23 BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Ýzmir executives resumed on Friday at Ýzmir 8th High Criminal Court. Out of 23 BDP administrators and district chairs, 10 have been remanded in custody at Kýrýklar F-Type Prison for nine months.

The trial listened to witnesses and ended with an attack on the crowd by police. People attending the trial were protesting against the chief judge’s decision to confirm the detention of 10 defendants.

Police used sticks and pepper gas against the people chanting slogans like “Revolutionist prisoners are our pride”.

In the meantime, SDP (Socialist Democracy Party) member Kaan Uður was detained upon the chief judge’s instruction on the grounds of “disconcerting the court discipline”. While Uður’s shoulder dislocated during the detention, he was released after giving statement to the judge.
