At the demonstration 'Yerli dizi yersiz uzun', in Ýstanbul, the posters that Kurdish directors hold caused a crisis in sine-sen, the cinema union. ‘Cinema in two languages’, ‘Biji cinema’, ‘My mother wants Kurdish Cinema’ were written on these posters.
The attitude of the people who are in the institutions, that come from ‘social democrat’ culture, and has neo-nationalist approach about Kurdish problem is attracting attention in the last terms in Turkey. As a curent example; Kurdish poster crisis is accured in sine-sen that is known by its opponent to the state and sensitivity to the Kurdish problem.
Laborer of cinema and tv serials came together under name of 'Yerli dizi yersiz uzun' in Taksim square in a couple of days ago. They claim improvement of their working conditions and they announced their problems. However some administrators of sine-sen reacted to Kurdish directors Mutlu Þahin and Garip Çelik, who carry posters that sentences of ‘ Cinema in two languages’, ‘Biji cinema’, ‘My mother wants Kurdish Cinema’ were written on.
Two weeks later, in the next union meeting, after the movement, Çelik and Þahin were criticized because of their claim about Kurdish cinema.
I WAS PREVENTED FOR GOÝNG UP TO THE PLATFORM
Director Mutlu Þahin who gives information about ‘Kurdish Poster’ crises says; it is very sad that a union, which claims itself as revolutionary and progressive, acts like that. He reminded that he walked with posters of 'Bijî cinema' ‘cinema in two languages’ in Taksim square and he gave these information;
“while everybody go up to the platform, that settled in square, to voice about their claims, I was prevented to go up to the platform. When I asked why it happened they showed me my poster and they said that it is not suitable for content of the movement. But my friend Galip Çelik could go up to the platform and talked about our claim although it was very short. At that moment I convinced it is necessary that to shout for our claims and rights in every condition with higher volume. This struggle should not end up in there.
THIS IS MIND OF DEPORTATION
Þahin remind that the struggle of a opponent trade body is not limited with just economic problems. He says that: “ we should struggle together for art, it should grow up freely it does not matter that it realize in which language. I want to ask my dear friends is it only one problem that the time of the serials? What about our censorship problems? Ýf we will not talk about the programmes and system that separate Kurdish and makes two people as enemies of each other in our trade body, where should we talk on these subjects? I afraid that this mind who send Yýlmaz Güney to deportation try to prepare us to deportation too.”
THEY TRÝED TO REMOVE US FROM PROTOCOL
Garip Çelik, who hold poster that written on “my mother wants Kurdish cinema”, said that they had a crises with union administrator because of their posters that claim kurdish cinema in the meeting day.
He says: “Although they tried to remove me from protocol, I argued with them I stayed in there. My aim was to talk about my claims but they could not stand. Monist and nationalist mind of people, who are in union, unmasked.
Çelik emphases that their right of self expression was prevented by censorshiping on their claims. He says that“ state tried to suppress Kurdish voice by holocaust and denial politics. Ýt is very sad that this mind is also in art and cinema that should protect cultures and accept cultural differences as richness. After that kind of acts I can say that. An alternative institution can be created.”
