HDP group president Ayhan Bilgen held a press conference at the Parliament to evaluate the current developments.
Referring to the victimization of TOKI workers, Bilgen stated:
"Workers who could not collect their receivables for two years in Mamak TOKİ, were on the agenda during the first day of the budget. These workers were employed without any insurance for a long time. They protested and were expelled from the buildings, so we have brought their protest to the General Assembly. We are talking about 225 people and they are collecting signatures. They are in pursuit of their claims and their labor.”
Artists targeted
Bilgen had words for artists Metin Akpinar and Mujdat Gezen, who have been targeted by Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan. “As soon as the President targeted the two artists the judiciary did not even wait for Monday and opened an investigation against them at the weekend. This is yet another example of how independent the judiciary is.”
Local elections
Bilgen talked about the elections. “Open the way to democracy in the ballot box, - he said - is the only way to end the coups.”
Answering to journalists asking about possible alliances between the HDP and the CHP, Bilgen said: “As long as there is no official request as to Western cities, we will follow our own road map. These elections carry with them the opportunity to choose for democracy. Candidates for some of the cities will be announced in January.”
