Birdal: no “yes” in referendum before the military operations end

BDP Diyarbakýr Deputy Akýn Birdal replied to the AKP speaker's statement that “50 per cent of the BDP voters will vote yes in the referendum on the constitutional amendment package”, underlining that “we won’t accept this referendum as long as the military operations continue and our mayors stay in prisons.”

BDP Diyarbakýr Deputy Akýn Birdal added that the AKP has prepared the amendment package in order to prolong its life, not to get rid of the 12 September Military Coup Constitution. "We say No to this game", said Birdal. “While warplanes are taking off for military operation in Amed, while our children are being arrested and put in jail for throwing stones, while mayors are in prison we won’t say “Yes” in this referendum. Kurds will say “No”.

Birdal ended his remarks by saying that "the AKP has built its own media and now wants to build its own judiciary, army and police".
