Block's candidates get support from artists and intellectuals
Many artists and intellectuals are joining the list of those supporting the independent candidates from the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block.
Yesterday, as DIHA News Agency noted, well known artists Orhan Alkaya, Tuncel Kurtiz, Julide Kural, Ezel Akay, Feryal Öney, Rekin Teksoy and Esmeray called on people to vote for the independent candidates of the Block for permanent peace.
Addressing hundreds of people at a meeting promoted by the Art Initiative for Peace and Mesopotamia Cultural Center (MKM) in Taksim Hill Hotel in Ýstanbul, the artists said the Block and its candidates are a guarantee for Turkey’s future.
Te work of Block candidates is continuing without pause in the different constituencies: meetings have been held in Muþ, Ardahan, Iðdýr, Bitlis, Hakkari, Ýstanbul and Aðrý.
The candidates in Ýstanbul particularly asked their voters to protect the ballot boxes in their neighborhoods.
Block’s Hakkari candidate Selahattin Demirtaþ visited Geçitli (Peyanis) Village where nine peasants were killed by a mine explosion last year. It has been established that, contrary to what had been alleged after the fatal incident, the mine had been placed by military forces and not by PKK guerrillas.
