The bodies of 102 victims of Saturdaya's deadly blasts in Ankara have been handed to their families after the completion of post-mortem examinations in tears and amid protests against the AKP ruling and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over their war and massacre policies.
The remaining 26 bodies will be handed over to families following a DNA test to verify the identities.
The post-mortem examinations for 102 the victims of the Ankara massacre have been completed at Ankara Forensic Medicine Institute yesterday evening, while the identity verification could not be accomplished yet for 26 other bodies without a DNA test. Hundreds of people kept waiting in front of the Forensic Institute for over 24 hours since the delivery of the bodies from hospitals starting from Saturday evening. As each vehicle left the Institute with the bodies of peace martyrs, the crowd continued waiting outside, chanting the slogan “Martyrs are immortal”.
Throughout yesterday, bodies of 102 victims were delivered to families, who were waiting at the Institute to take their beloved ones to their hometowns. The bodies of 26 people on the other hand have yet to be identified through a DNA test due to the strong effect of the blasts.
Many volunteers from Ankara also flocked to the Forensic Institute to show their solidarity with the families of the victims. Volunteers did not only work to meet the basic need of families, but also shared the pains of the families and one another.
In the meantime the families of the wounded also kept waiting in the gardens of the hospitals in Ankara the whole night despite a heavy rain in the city. A physician from Ankara Numune Hospital told that tents were set up in the garden of the hospital for the families for overnight stay while at the same time raincoats were delivered.
