Bodies of HPG guerrillas not given to their families

The bodies of HPG guerrillas held in the morgue of Şırnak State Hospital are not delivered to their families, although the families already provided DNA samples.

The bodies of 8 HPG guerrillas who fell as martyrs in clashes at different dates in the Cudi and Gabar Mountains and in the region of Besta Dereler in Şırnak have been kept at Şırnak State Hospital Morgue for 33 days.

Families who have applied to take the bodies of their children have been told that they can’t have them as "DNA test has not been performed."

The family of Şilan Polat, one of the guerrillas who fell a martyr in the clashes, is living in Yüksekova, Hakkari. Lawyer Necat Polat said that no information has been given to the family until today and added: "On 2 October, the family was informed that the corpses of their children were in Şırnak State Hospital. On 5 October the family went to Şırnak State Hospital and gave a blood sample for DNA.”

The lawyer added: “We were informed that the DNA results have not been disclosed yet according to the what the prosecutor's office told us on Monday. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to wait until we get the DNA results. We owed an explanation, an official explanation so to follow the necessary judicial process."
