BÖG fighter Eylem Ataş to be laid to rest in Adana today

The body of BÖG fighter Eylem Ataş who lost her life in the Manbij liberation operation was allowed through the border after four months. Ataş’s funeral will be held today in Adana.

United Freedom Forces (Birleşik Özgürlük Güçleri - BÖG) fighter Eylem Ataş (Cemre Heval) had taken part in the Manbij liberation operation and had lost her life on June 28 fighting the ISIS gangs. Her body was kept at the border for four months and was just recently retrieved.

The Ataş family and their lawyers arrived at the Mardin Governorate in the morning to retrieve the body.

After the meetings, the family, lawyers, HDP MP’s Gülser Yıldırım and Meral Danış Beştaş and a group of locals arrived at the Kızıltepe Şenyurt Border Gate.

The committee received the body from Rojava authorities and transferred it to Mardin Public Hospital.

Following the autopsy procedure, Eylem Ataş’s body will be buried today in Adana, the city she was born in.

THE BODY IS HEADED TO ADANA FROM MARDIN

Ataş family’s lawyer Umut Vedat Açar announced that they received the body from Mardin and were on their way to Adana.

Ataş’s friend Hakan Aktaş expressed that they were gathering in Şakirpaşa Cemevi to receive the body and said: “If there isn’t an extraordinary development, we will bury Eylem today. We are in the Şakirpaşa Cemevi for anybody who wants to attend the funeral.”

SHE WILL BE BURIED NEXT TO HER COMRADE AKDENİZ

Aktaş said that Eylem Ataş’s body will be buried in Küçükoba Cemetery next to BÖG Commander Bedrettin Akdeniz.
