A bomb attack has been carried out in the mainly Christian neighborhood of Ainkawa, which also houses the U.S. Consulate, in Hewler city of South Kurdistan.

A large explosion occurred after a bomb-laden car was detonated outside the US Consulate at 5:45 pm.

According to initial reports, the bombing has left many casualties. Ambulances have been rushed to the scene where intense security measures have been taken amidst gunfire.

Officials have made no statement about the blast yet.
