Preparations for the action ‘Defend Kurdistan against the occupation’, which is planned to be held simultaneously on Saturday 11 June in many countries of the world, have been completed in London.
Hundreds of leaflets about the action, organised by the Kurdish People's Assembly and internationalist organizations, were distributed in the city.
Calling to atten the action, British Kurdish People's Assembly co-chair Elif Sarıcan said that they will hold a rally in front of the BBC building at 1 pm, and then hold a march.
Stating that the action will take place simultaneously in many parts of the world, Sarıcan said: “We have joined the call for the Global Day of Action. Together with the Kurdish people and their friends, we will say defend Kurdistan against the war and occupation policies of the Turkish state. The Turkish state is committing war crimes and using chemical weapons against the Kurdish people. With our action, we will also take a stand against crimes against humanity."
Stop selling arms to Turkey
Emphasizing that the support given to Turkey through arms sales, diplomatic and trade relations, especially by the western and NATO states, should be withdrawn immediately, Sarıcan said: "We will demand from London, in particular, that Britain stop arms sales to the Turkish fascist regime. We will be calling on the British to use their diplomatic position to take a position to stop Turkey's occupation policies and restart a peace process."
