On 24 July 1923, in Lausanne, Turkey, Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Romania and Yugoslavia signed the Treaty of Lausanne.
A century later, on 24 July, at least 600 members from 175 political parties, non-governmental organizations, intellectuals and writers will participate in the "Great Conference of Kurdistan" organized by the National Congress of Kurdistan (Kongreya Neteweyî ya Kurdistanê - KNK) on the occasion of the centenary of the Treaty of Lausanne. The final declaration of the conference, which will determine a roadmap for the fight against the concept of annihilation and denial of the Kurds, will be shared with the public.
The Treaty of Lausanne Centenary Actions and Activities Committee released a statement calling on the Kurds to join the march and rally to be held in Lausanne on July 22.
The Committee pointed out that the Treaty of Lausanne brought about the division of Kurdistan, massacres, denial, migration and the denial of the Kurdish people’s existence, and legitimized the mechanism of colonialism on the people of Kurdistan.
The people of Kurdistan, who have rejected the treaty ever since it was signed, will manifest their will for a solution, their identity and their existence in demonstrations and rallies on the centenary of the treaty.
We call on the Kurds, the people of Kurdistan and their friends to participate in the historic rally to be held in Lausanne on July 22 to declare their identity and will.
It is a national duty to participate in the rally and to stand up for your honor.”
The rally will kick off from Place de la Navigation at 11:30 local time.
