A hundred years after the Treaty of Lausanne, the CDK-S called on everyone to demonstrate against the agreement that divided Kurdistan.
The Democratic Kurdish Community in Switzerland (CDK-S) called on everyone to attend a demonstration to mark the centenary of the Treaty of Lausanne. The demonstration will take place on Saturday 22 July, just ahead of a conference with representatives of 57 Kurdish parties, organizations and institutions from Syria, Iraq, Iran and Syria on the same weekend.
The demonstration will start at 11.30 am at Place de la Navigation in front of the Château d'Ouchy on the banks of Lac Léman. From there, activists will go to the Palais Rumine, where the partition of Kurdistan was sealed on 24 July 1923 by the Treaty of Lausanne.
The Kurdish community CDK-S said in a statement: "As Kurds and peoples from Kurdistan, we will make it clear together with our friends that this agreement does not apply to us and that we want a status."
At the conference, a consensus on the Kurdish demands in the national, regional and global context should be worked out. The CDK-S called on Kurds and their friends, saying, "come and let's start a new century together on 22 July!"
