CHP hold two congresses in 24 hours

The CHP (Republican People's Party) has been struggling with internal conflicts for a while now. The latest twist has been registered on Sunday when a special congress called by the party administration approved the proposed bylaws. Twenty four hours later, today, another congress has been called to amend those very party bylaws just approved.

The CHP has really never been at peace since the election of his leader Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu in May of 2010.

Sunday and Monday congresses are said to be held to make improvements to the party charter and to democratize it.

Today's congress was called by Kýlýçdaroðlu's opponents, who several months ago launched a campaign to hold an extraordinary congress and collected signatures from delegates. Opponents claim that the current intra-party system is undemocratic and gives too much power to the party leader.
