Zeki Demirkubuz, Yeþim Ustaoðlu, Kazým Öz, Ýlksen Baþarýr together with some 200 directors and cinema workers have made a statement asking for the release of directors Mizgin Müjde Arslan and Özay Þahin. The two directors have been taken into custody the other day in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation. Over 100 people have been detained every day in the past three days.

Cinema magazines, associations, directors have pointed out to the words of Interior minister Ýdris Naim Þahin, who had said not long ago that "terrorism is made by poems, films, writings as well as with arms". Basically an invitation to hit artists and intellectuals. Something which promptly happened.
