Clashes in Diyarbakir

Some twenty thousand people marched in the city of Diyarbakýr today to protest against the violence used by police to crash the demonstrations staged to mark the anniversary of the international conspiracy which brought to the capture of Kurdish leader, Abdullah Ocalan to be captured on 15 February 1999.

Marchers were faced by police violence in the day they protested against police brutality.

Chanting slogans such as “Long live leader Apo”, “PKK is the people, the people are here”, marchers responded with stone to the police attacks. The police used gas bombs and pressured water.

The clashes are continuing.
