Concern growing for Leyla Güven and other hunger strikers

HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven is leading the hunger strike resistance which has been joined by thousands of prisoners and dozens of activists around the world.

HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven has reached day 177 of her hunger strike demanding the end of isolation against Öcalan.

The HDP deputy is leading the hunger strike resistance which has been joined by thousands of prisoners and dozens of activists around the world. On 30 April, 15 prisoners have turned their indefinite hunger strike into death fast. 

Güven's health condition is getting worse as is the situation of the other hunger strikers, yet all insist in their determination to continue their protest until isolation is lifted. 

Concern is growing for hunger striker Imam Sis who has reached day 138 of his hunger strike in Westport, Wales. Plaid Cymru has called on the UK government to act as Sis condition is getting worse. 

Likewise, there is growing concern for the worsening of the condition of HDP Hewler representative Nasir Yagiz, who has been on hunger strike for 164 days in South Kurdistan. 

In Strasbourg the 14 Kurdish activists on hunger strike have reached day 138 of their fast.
