The First Conference about Kurdish language organized by Hakkari University failed to appealed to Kurdish people since the real aim of the conference has been seen as promoting the assimilation of the Kurdish language.
Many organizations like Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), Kurdi-Der and Cilo Association and experts had withdrawn before the Conference started.
Yesterday, second day of the conference attendance was very poor, and the organizers have decided not to allow the press in the conference room for the remaining three days of work.
The University Board has decided to close the Conference to the press member, on the ground that the academicians would feel uncomfortable knowing the press in among the audience.
The prohibition was evaluated as an excuse to hide the University’s failure to embrace Kurdish people.
Kurdish Language and Education Movement (TZPKurdî) had announced that it woul not participate to the "Kurdology Conference" at Hakkari University because of the approach to the Kurdish language and the denial policies pursued against Kurdish people.
The statement, expressing that the decision not to participate was affected by the university’s approach to the Kurdish language and applications of the university against the patriotic-democratic employees, stated that all unit supervisors of Hakkari University, the rector in particular, serve the government. The statement underlined that the community staff at universities. The statement said: “While community militants are positioned at all the important departments of the university, democrat employees are dismissed from their duties. Only AKP supporter Kurds are brought in.”
The statement noted that the date of the conference was brought forward before the elections to display the conference as an electoral propaganda for the AKP.
