Constitutional Court to discuss HDP's request for additional time

On September 2, the Constitutional Court will decide on the HDP's request for additional time for the preliminary defense in the closure case.

At its meeting on September 2, the Constitutional Court of Turkey (AYM) will make a decision on the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Law Commission's request for additional time for the preliminary defense in the party's closure lawsuit.

On June 7, the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent the second indictment to the Constitutional Court, seeking that the HDP be closed. The indictment was accepted during the court's initial examination on June 21. The party was provided with 70 additional folders and 8 flash memories related to the indictment, as well as a 60-day defense time.

If the plea for further time is denied by the Constitutional Court, the HDP will file its first defense on September 7. The second 843-page indictment seeks the political exclusion of 451 persons.
