The convoy joining the family of HPG guerrilla Mensur Güzel, who was executed on the hijacked ferry Kartepe on 12 November, was stopped by police before entering Urfa city. BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Provincial Chair Mehmet Vural and civilian Nafiz Iþýk, reported as Güzel’s relative, were taken into custody following a detailed id control and search in all vehicles.

The convoy set out from Istanbul to Diyarbakýr yesterday after Güzel’s body was identified and reclaimed by his family at Forensic Medicine Institute. Güzel’s family is accompanied by MEYADER, BDP executives and activists of Peace Mothers Initiative.

The convoy is expected to arrive in Diyarbakýr in the afternoon. Güzel’s body will be buried at Yeniköy Cemetery following a ceremony to be joined by the people of Diyarbakýr.
