BDP’s Akdeniz Municipality in Mersin continues to perform the necessary requirements of the sense of social municipalism. Within the scope of Akdeniz Municipality’s organizations aiming to provide employment for young people, the Municipality Directorate of Cultural and Social Affairs will give cookery course to 45 young people aged between 18 and 29.
The course which aims to provide employment for young people who migrated to Mersin from eastern provinces will be given by professional trainers.
Akdeniz Municipality Deputy Mayor Makbule Kaplan emphasized the importance of the course which intends to train young people and to include them in the tourism sector in the city which has a high rate of unemployment. Kaplan said that; “Our city Mersin which has a remarkable tourism potential has enhanced its aim in this sector where more qualified personnel will be required in the near future. I invite young people who are interested in tourism sector to attend this course.”
Remarking that the lack of a profession is the basic reason and the major obstacle to unemployment, Kaplan added that; “We in this regard attach big importance to these projects which will provide employment for our young people. We expect huge demand to the courses which are directed to young people who migrated to Mersin and struggle with unemployment here. The attendees of the courses will also be provided with daily wage and regular insurance along the course.”
