Court rules detention for 18 of 29 people arrested in Antep

Eighteen of the 29 people detained as a result of the political genocide operations in Antep were remanded in custody.

Within the scope of the political genocide operation carried out by the Antep Public Prosecutor's Office, 29 people were detained following house raids on 14 July, including HDP, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Socialist Re-Foundation Party (SYKP) executives and members.

A total of 18 people, including HDP Provincial co-chairs Musa Aydın and Songül Koçdağ and Peace Mother Remziye Erdem, were sent to prison. Eleven people were put on house arrest and judicial control.

The people sent to prison are: HDP Provincial co-chair Songül Koçdağ, former DBP Provincial co-chair Ali Şimşek, SYKP Provincial co-chair Ahmet Aşkar, HDP Şahinbey District co-chair Bahri Yarış, Peace Mother Remziye Erdem, Recai Yılmaz, medical student Cüneyt Kaya, HDP Şahinbey provincial politicians Remziye Kuş and Isa Aslan.

On Friday, HDP Provincial co-chair Musa Aydın, Adnan Erol, Hurşit Besle, Abdullah Acar, Enver Özman, Sevinç Selçuk, Ömer Sungur, Ibrahim Dağ and Hasan Saran had been sent to prison.
