Day 5 in Vienna hunger strike

The 5-day mass hunger strike held to create awareness in the Austrian public and the tent demonstration in Austrian capital Vienna continued on day 5.

Protests continue to break the silence of the European public for the hunger strikes launched under the lead of DTK Co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Guven to break the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

A mass hunger strike is held in Austrian capital Vienna as part of this mobilization. The hunger strike launched on March 25 near the Austrian Parliament continued on day 5.

Activists were visited yesterday by Komintern union representatives and Radio Orange reporter Jutta Metyerk. Metyerk spoke with the activists about the starting date of the protest and its purpose to be published in the Austrian press.

The petition launched by Austrian intellectuals to be presented to the Council of Europe (CoE) Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) was received with great interest from the Austrian and Kurdish people alike.

Hunger strikers put up a tent in the Heldenplatz square near the Austrian Parliament between 11 and 16 every day to inform the public.

The preparation committee announced that the protest will conclude with a mass march to be held after 16:00 today.
