As the indefinite non-alternating hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan continues in Strasbourg, France with frequent visits, journalist Gulistan Ike was hospitalized as her situation got worse.

The indefinite non-alternating hunger strike by 14 activists including European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E) Co-chair Yuksel Koc against the isolation continues on day 54.

The hunger strike moved to 273 Avenue de Colmar, 67100 Strasbourg and continues to receive support visits from all over Europe.

JOURNALIST GULISTAN IKE HOSPITALIZED

Meanwhile, hunger strikers continue to worsen. Journalist Gulistan Ike’s health has deteriorated significantly in the last few days, and today she was hospitalized.

Dr. Fahrettin Gulsen said the doctors found inflammation in her cerebral veins and added that they will issue further statements after detailed tests in the hospital.

KCDK-E Co-chair Yuksel Koc and Kerem Solhan had been hospitalized last week. The hunger strikers show symptoms like headaches, nausea, abnormal blood pressure, low and high pulses and stomach pains.

The hunger strikers are also more sensitive to flu and other viral infections that are widespread in the winter months. As such, it is of utmost importance that no visitors go in who have any infections. The visitors are also asked to disinfect their hands and faces as they enter the locale.

REPRESENTATIVES FROM INSTITUTIONS FROM 3 COUNTRIES AND MASS VISITS

The hunger strike was visited by many Swiss and Kurdish members of the Zurich Rojava Kurdish Friendship Group, who arrived in Strasbourg from Austria to support the action. Austrian Kurdish Society Center (FEY-KOM) Co-chair Halis Sever was among the visitors.

The Strasbourg protest was also visited today by Imam Yildiz, who held a 52-day hunger strike in 2012 against the isolation in Pforzheim, Germany.
