DBP Co-chair: Rojava is the common value of Kurdistan

Aslan reminded that people have been paying a very heavy price to reclaim their own identity and to achieve freedom in these lands for many years.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Sultanbeyli District Organisation held its 1st Extraordinary Congress held in the organisation’s building.

The congress was attended by DBP Co-Chair Mehmet Arslan.

Arslan welcomed the hunger strike initiated by DTK Co-Chair and HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven.

Aslan reminded that people have been paying a very heavy price to reclaim their own identity and to achieve freedom in these lands for many years.

“The capitalist system is not allowing Kurds to live peacefully in their own geography. - he said - Sadly, we have witnessed occupation and dirty wars waged against Kurds in order to eliminate their will and their right to self-governing.”

Aslan added: “The demands of our comrades in prison are the demands of millions of Kurds. It is our biggest responsibility not to leave this problem on the back of our friends in prison.”

Talking about the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, Aslan said: “Many countries commented on this issue. Turkey is in a happy mood on this issue. The US withdrawal from Syria saying that DAESH has been defeated is actually signaling the beginning of new wars in Syria. Because balances in Syria brought the war to a certain point. The deterioration of these balances will go against Kurds and this will cause the war in Syria to start again. This approach has been the result of centuries of sovereign states' approach to using the Kurds for their policies. It should be noted that the US has made alliances with PYD and YPG in Syria. But this issue has always been very clear for us. The United States had a policy on the back of Kurds.”

What Kurds have gained in the Middle East, said Aslan, “they have achieved it thanks to their strength. We call on our people and friends of all Kurdistan because today, the war that is wanted to be developed in this land, is one that will darken the common future of all peoples. Every war means pain, tears, death. If there are those who think about strengthening their power by threatening the Kurds, they should give up this hopeless dream. Kurds have achieved these gains by paying heavy prices and are ready to pay whatever the price to protect them. Our people should raise their voices against the threats against Rojava revolution wherever they are. Rojava is the common value of all Kurdistan.”

Talking about the local elections to be held in Turkey and Kurdistan on 31 March 2019, Aslan said: “This election will be the turning point for the AKP threatening policies in Kurdistan.”
