"Defend Kurdistan against Turkish occupation” march in Switzerland continues

The second stage of the three-day march from Lausanne to Geneva will be concluded in the evening with a concert by members of the cultural association TEV-ÇAND. The participants had left Sunday morning in Morges and march to Gland.

A good 250 demonstrators set off from the Swiss municipality of Morges on Sunday morning to reach the next stage destination of Gland. The three-day march of the initiative "Defend Kurdistan" had begun yesterday in Lausanne under the slogan "Defend Kurdistan against Turkish occupation". On Monday, the demonstration is expected to reach the city of Geneva. The action is intended to send a signal that a new edition of the Lausanne Treaty is out of the question. The agreement established on July 24, 1923, not only the current state borders of Turkey, but also the division of Kurdistan. With a stroke of the pen, the Kurds became Turks, Iranians, Iraqis and Syrians.

The distance between Morges and Gland is just under 24 kilometers. It started with a short opening rally in the Parc de l'Independance. Salih Saglam from the organizing committee first informed about the background of the demonstration. Afterwards, the Kurdish politician Serhat Agirî spoke and addressed the Kurdish resistance against the Turkish occupation and genocide concept.

the activists are moving under flags of various groups and initiatives of the Kurdish women's and liberation movement, as well as loud slogans. Today’s final destination is Gland where the evening will end with a panel discussion and a concert by a band of the Kurdish cultural movement TEV-ÇAND.
