The 1st Ordinary Congress of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Youth Council will be held in Amed on 24 December. Preparations for the congress, where thousands of young people are expected to participate, are continuing. DEM Party Youth Council member Idris Yalçın said that together they will find a solution and answer to the crisis situation in the country.
Speaking to ANF, DEM Party Youth Council member Idris Yalçın said that cruelty and tyranny had penetrated into homes and that the state was attacking young people with all its might. He added that the state tries to undermine young people also by favouring the circulation and availability of drugs. Yalçın said: "Our Congress will find a solution against the crisis of society and concerns of young people. We will break all oppression and tyranny. This is the purpose of our congress."
Kurdish young people and women are standing up
Young people started a campaign with the slogan 'A glorious resistance against the special war' before the congress, said Yalçın, adding: "With this campaign, we tried to show what position the state wanted to put Kurds and Kurdish young people in. When we look at state practice, they have always seen us as a second citizen. Kurds can be everything for the state, but a Kurd cannot be a Kurd in his/her own land. This is the biggest problem. You can be anything but a Kurd, but when you say you are a Kurd, everyone becomes your enemy. Assimilation and massacre policies against Kurdish young people and women have been continuing for 100 years, but they have not succeeded. The Kurdish people have woken up now. Today, a new resistance has emerged in the Middle East and Kurdistan. From now on, no one can leave the Kurdish people in the dark. At our congress, we will show that Kurdish youth and women are standing and struggling."
Isolation is against all Kurdish people
Stating that an isolation policy is being carried out against the entire Kurdish people through Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Yalçın said: "Mr. Öcalan represents for us an idea and a way of life. We will announce this idea and way of life to the whole world. Today, our friends in prisons are resisting with hunger strikes, and our mothers are holding vigils for justice. We will fight until Mr. Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom is achieved. We invite all our young, struggling friends to this congress."
