Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-president Selahttin Demirtaş has held the shortest parliamentary group meeting today, calling out to Turkish president Erdoğan: “Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as long as HDP exists in these lands, you will never be the President!”
Today’s HDP parliamentary group meeting was attended by people affiliated to the branches of the party in the Black Sea region in the north of Turkey.
Speaking at the weekly parliamentary group meeting of his party, HDP Co-president Demirtaş said he took the floor today just to say one sentence and to reiterate their promise to the peoples of Turkey that they will never give up their struggle for democracy, peace and freedom. “We are not a movement of negotiations. We never had a dirty negotiation or bargaining with the AKP, and we will never have”, said Demirtaş.
Denying allegations regarding a negotiation between his party and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) over switching Turkey to a presidential system, Demirtaş said: “Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as long as the HDP exists, as long as its supporters exist in these lands, we will never let you become a president”.
The HDP leader ended his short talk by saying that they held the last parliamentary group meeting before the elections, and they will be out in the streets and rally fields from now on.
