After the bomb attack on HDP rally in Amed, HDP Co-President Selahattin Demirtaş made a statement in front of DBP City Headquarters and called for organization and success. Demirtaş said “The elections will be held no matter what happens. We will prevail, peace will prevail.” Demirtaş asked the thousands of people who gathered in front of DBP City Headquarters to continue their election efforts with determination until they get results. Demirtaş’s speech was often interrupted by the crowd’s chant “Murderer Erdoğan!” Demirtaş said that their democracy march cannot be stopped despite the attempts to hit HDP at home. Emphasizing the need for peace, Demirtaş called on the crowds to bring peace to Turkey.

Demirtaş stated that they received phone calls and prayers of solidarity from all around Turkey since the explosion. Emphasizing the need for continuing election preparations uninterrupted, Demirtaş said that HDP would not fall into such traps and will wait patiently for its electoral success.

Demirtaş congratulated the crowd for its discipline and said that the explosion aimed to create panic and cause hundreds of women, children and men to trample one another. Emphasizing HDP’s need for electoral success, Demirtaş said that they hope those who are responsible for the bombing will be found.

Lastly, Demirtaş said "We are aware of the groups who feel threatened by HDP’s electoral success and the upcoming elections will be held no matter what happens. We will prevail, peace will prevail, freedom will prevail on the night of June 7 when we present Great Humanity to this country."
