Demirtaþ: AKP hit Van’s people harder than the earthquake

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ said in his visit to Van yesterday that the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) government adopted a deliberate policy of deprivation in Van since the earthquake in October which killed many and displaced a great number of people in the city.

Speaking at the BDP tent in the city, Demirtaþ said the followings; “The AKP hit Van’s people harder than the earthquake. They took advantage of the earthquake in order to erase the city. One third of Van’s population has migrated to other cities. The money of a single war plane could be enough to provide each family with a container house. However, the government did not even give tents to the people.

They prefer to bomb innocent children in Roboski instead of helping the earthquake victims in Van. This is a deliberate policy. The AKP shall pay the price for this discrimination,” said Demirtaþ.

BDP Co-Chair underlined that the AKP did not have any tolerance for those who resist and added; “This is state terrorism to which we will never submit ourselves to.”

Demirtaþ also evaluated the most recent “KCK” operations, saying that; “There is a fascist structure in front of us, the AKP has founded its own terror organization. It is not a right but a duty to resist against this fascism.”
