Jinen Ciwanen Azad members have set up a tent in Swedish capital Stockholm’s Medborgarplatsen Square to protest the Turkish state’s genocidal operations in Northern Kurdistan and to support the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The youth put up a large poster of the Kurdish People’s Leader and a PKK flag in the tent and placed photographs of Turkish state attacks on civilians in Kurdistan. The activists also passed out flyers iforming the public on their protest.

Helin Uzel from Jinen Ciwanen Azad underlined the importance of bringing the events to the attention of the world in the conditions where historic developments are taking place in Kurdistan and Rojava, the Kurdish People’s Leader Öcalan is under strict isolation and AKP government is launching vile attacks on the Kurdish people.

Uzel said the EU’s and the Swedish government’s reaction against the isolation imposed upon Öcalan and the massacres in Kurdistan were very weak and said: “We as the youth of Jinen Ciwanen Azad demand the Swedish government not stand watching from the sidelines, and to take on a concrete and clear stance. The Kurdish youth is determined to continue the struggle until Öcalan is free and Kurds have political status.”

The tent demonstration will continue until tonight, said Uzel and called on the friends of the Kurdish people to increase solidarity with the struggle for Öcalan’s freedom.
