Amed (Diyarbakir) City Council has taken a decision for “actually developing the Democratic Autonomy into pratice and accelerating the announcement of Democratic Autonomous governance”.
Amed City Council has taken a number of historical decisions during the Mid-Term Meeting which ended yesterday. The meeting’s decisions also include actually developing the democratic autonomy and accelerating the announcement of Democratic Autonomous governance.
The Mid-Term Meeting of Amed City Council took place and saw the participation of 400 delegates including Peace and Democracy Party Mayors and representatives of institutions and organizations. The "democratic autonomy" subject left its mark on the discussions at the conference.
Following the meeting at BDP district building, the council delegates and thousands of citizens started a march to Kosuyolu Park to declare the decisions taken during the meeting. The march, which was also joined by Labor Freedom and Democracy Block’s Diyarbakir candidate Nursel Aydogan and ten thousand people, continued in accompany with slogans and KCK and PKK flags.
The mass was met on Bayýndýrlýk Street with the barricade of armored vehicles and police who announced that the march will not be permitted due to the illegal banner being carried by the mass. The march continued when the police barricade was lifted upon the people’s persistence in walking. The mass, tearing down Erdogan’s posters and AKP flags during the march, raised slogans “Killer Erdogan” while passing by the AKP Baglar District Directorate.
