Police prevented Democratic Resistance Tents to be put up in Mersin and Cizre (Þýrnak). In Nusaybin (Mardin) the tent was emptied and removed by security forces. Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) members said they would begin an hunger strike in the tents up in several cities to protest against the isolation of PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan and to voice their demand for the release of all political prisoners and legal guarantee for the Kurdish language.
DIHA News Agency said police threatened their reporter Serkan Kurt in Nusaybin and seized his camera. The camera has been given back to Kurt after the photos and footages were deleted.
The police intervention was met with sit in actions in Nusaybin and Cizre. In Mersin 60 people have gone on a hunger strike.
In Adana the protestors put up their tent and 20 people begun a three-days hunger strike.
