Today marks the 25th anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to Abdullah Öcalan’s abduction in Kenya and handover to Turkey on 15 February 1999. The Kurdish leader has been held in Imrali Island Prison since, subjected to unlawful and inhuman treatment. He has not been heard from for three years now, denied any form of contact with his lawyers and family members.

MP Aneel Hegde and friends of the Kurdish people organised a demonstration at Jantar Mantar Square in New Delhi, the capital of India, to demand the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Demanding the "immediate" release of the Kurdish People's Leader, the Indians unfurled banners with photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and Abdullah Öcalan and demanded freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.
