Demonstrations for Öcalan's freedom in three Swedish cities

Activities were carried out for the freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in three Swedish cities Stockholm, Goteborg and Orebro.

Demonstrations were carried out for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan at the Medborgarplatsen Square in Stockholm, Milleniumtorget square in Goteborg and Storatgorget square in Orebro.

Representatives of Civil Organisations which joined the demonstrations demanded the immediate lift of the total isolation on the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and his immediate release.

Co-chair of Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Sweden, Hamit Biten, held a speech at the rally and informed the public about the activities held throughout Europe for Öcalan's freedom. Biten called on the Swedish government and the European Union to get into action for the freedom of Öcalan and all other political prisoners.

CALL TO THE KDP TO RELEASE DETAINED YPG MEMBERS

Hamit Biten recalled and condemned the detainment of 4 internationalist YPG fighters by the KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party), of whom two are Swedish, and remarked that the imprisonment of fighters who joined the operation for Raqqa's liberation is in itself assistance to ISIS gangs. Biten called on the KDP to release the arrested YPG members immediately.

Biten went on stressing the Turkish state's preparations for Efrîn's invasion and stated that the AKP government and Erdoğan are resorting to such a policy of war because they are left alone within the world community and hope to get themselves out of their deep hole. Biten said, "Erdoğan wants to lend the ISIS gangs who are besieged in Raqqa some breath. But should they dare to attack Efrîn they shall suffer the same fate as the ISIS gangs in Kobanê."

Deniz Yildiz, a protester who attended the activity in Stockholm, spoke to ANF and made clear that Öcalan's freedom poses importance not only for the Kurdish people, but for all peoples and elements in the Middle East. Yildiz added : "Öcalan is the main architect for the democratization of the Middle East. For freedom and peace it is a must that he gets freed."

'THE SWEDISH GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TAKE STANCE TOWARDS TURKEY'

Some Swedish people joined the information tent and criticised the Swedish government for not fulfilling necessary efforts towards the freedom of Öcalan.

Tove Rolf (83), a supporter of the Social Democrats, called on the Swedish government which keeps silent concerning massacres perpetrated on the Kurds, saying, "Economic profit seem to prevail over huge suffering. I call on our government to take stance towards the Turkish state, because Öcalan must be released."
