The hunger strike resistance carried out by 14 Kurdish activists in Strasbourg demanding the end of isolation against Öcalan began on 17 December 2018.
The 14 activists, including the European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E) co-chair Yüksel Koç, are being visited every day by dozens of people. The hunger strike in Strasbourg has reached day 97.
In addition, activists went on a solidarity hunger strike in front of the CPT and the Council of Europe four weeks ago.
Support message from Die Linke executives
Hunger strikers were visited by Kurds from different cities in Europe on Friday.
Former Secretary General of the Pakistan Labor Party (Barabri), Tariq Shahzad sent a message to the activists and so did German Left Party, Die Linke.
The message expressed solidarity for the hunger strike activists and support to their demand of ending the isolation against Abdullah Öcalan and allow peace talks to resume.
Die Linke also recalled that hunger striker Yüksel Koç is a party member.
Die Linke called for the release of all political prisoners and underlined that thousands of HDP members, democratically elected representatives, councillors, executives are still in jail in Turkey.
Solidarity hunger strike entered fourth week
On the other hand, the solidarity hunger strike in front of the Council of Europe has reached week four. On Friday the one German and eight Kurdish women, members of the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E), who took over the hunger strike on Monday, ended their 5-day action. The new group of hunger strikers is expected to take over the action on Monday.
