Various themed photograph and picture exhibitions will open within the frame of the 10. Diyarbakýr Culture and Art Festival this year. The exhibitions will open today and last till the end of the festival. The festival also includes Culture and Introduction fair, where each city can exhibit its cultural elements.
Within the frame of the festival, Serpil Odabaþý's work “Oysa Siz Bizi Ne Çok Sevmiþtiniz” (But You Loved Us So Much) will also be displayed by Cegerxwin Culture and Art Center. Odabaþý is a painter and interested in actual art. Her work is related with "outsiders" who are ignored and aggrieved in daily life. Odabaþý's works are about the lifes wounded by every kind of power. She had previously held exhibitions in activities in Van and Hakkari about the TMK (Turkish Civil Code) victim children.
The festival will also host the exhibition of the work “Yaþamýn Renkleri Kendi Topraðýnda Yetiþiyor” (The Colors of the Life Growing in its own ground) of DYG (Democratic Patriotic Youth) Culture and Art Centers. This exhibiton handles the children that are victims of TMK and exposed to violence.
The mixed picture gallery "Rengimizin Öyküsü" (The Story of Our Color) by 12 prisoners which reflect their inner worlds will also take place at the festival. It is possible to see the the portraits of well-known Kurdish personalities and surrealistic landscape works at this work. The exhibition will be held in Dicle Fýrat Culture and Art Center.
Diyarbakýr Metropolitan Municipality Exhibition Hall will host the caricatures of Serdar Kesteyi and the portrait works of Mansour Mansour. Serdar Kesteyi, who mostly treats Kurdish artists, tells the interest of artists with dry paint technic. And Mansour draws not only people faces on portraits, but also "their souls" with his own words. He draws musicians, actors, authors, poets and his relative friends. He technically prefers water color and acrylic paint on pasteboard. He lives in Germany and holds an exhibition for the first time in Diyarbakýr.
The works of Diyarbakýr Metropolitan Municipality Photo Club will also be exhibited at the festival. "Diyarbakýr Photos", which are mostly taken in historical beauties and city walls, will display the harmony of people and scenery.
