DÖKH to remember Sakine, Fidan, Leyla

The Mardin Assembly of Democratic and Free Women's Movement (DÖKH) will organise a series of events from 3 to 9 January to remember three Kurdish women revolutionaries, PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) founder member Sakine Cansız (Sara), KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) Paris Representative Fidan Doğan (Rojbin) and youth movement member Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahi) who were murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013.

Speaking at a press conference the Assembly held about the events, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Mardin provincial executive Hasibe Mengirkaon reminded that no light has been shed on the execution of three Kurdish politicians since the massacre, and underlined that they would be taking to the streets to demand justice for Sakine, Fidan and Leyla until their murderers are exposed and punished.

Mengirkaon listed the events to take place in Mardin between 3 and 9 January as follows;

"3 January – Torch march in the Saraçoğlu neighborhood in Artuklu, and in Nusaybin district
5 January – March in Savur and Derik, panel discussion at BDP Midyat office
6 January - March in Dargeçit
7 January – Sinevision projection and press conference in Ömerli and Yeşil
8 January – Commemoration at the Mitanni Culture and Art Center in Nusaybin
9 January – Final march at Özgürlük Meydanı (Freedom Square) in Kızıltepe"
