Democratic Society Congress (DTK) released a statement to extend condolences for former South African leader Nelson Mandela who has died at the age of 95 on Thursday.
"Mandela's death is a loss for not only South Africa and all oppressed peoples but also for the Kurdish people who are deeply sorry for his death and give South African people and humanity their condolences", DTK said and put emphasis on South African leader's stance and struggle that liberated his people from exploitative-white races, set an example for the peoples and countries in similar situation, and paved the way for democracy through negotiations and resolution.
DTK stressed that the South African leader will continue to be the source of inspiration for the peoples fighting for freedom and democracy.
Pointing out that the Kurdish people considered Mandela a friend and voiced his solution model for the resolution of the Kurdish question as well, DTK added that Kurds have fought for their freedom against policies of repression and assimilation, just like what Mandela and his comrades did for their people.
