In a written statement on the withdrawal of HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas to begin today, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) stated that Turkey was going through a historic process which could lead to democratization and a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.

The DTK pointed out that the process of withdrawal of Kurdish guerrillas from Turkish borders was of major importance for the construction of an equal and free life by Kurdish and Turkish people. The DTK called on Kurdish people to display sensitivity towards the withdrawal and to take action in case of a slightest danger.

The DTK evaluated the creation of commissions by NGOs to monitor the withdrawal process as a proof of the social sensitivity for peace, and remarked that these commissions would be of importance in terms of ensuring that the process could make a healthy progress.

Pointing out that government officials must also act in line with the spirit of the process and take necessary measures in this regard, DTK said the Turkish state must avoid military operations and provocations to ensure that the withdrawal process could be acomplished without any risks and sabotages.

The DTK ended its statement by calling on the Kurdish people and all DTK components to act in accordance with the delicate phase.
