Lawyer Ebru Timtik who passed away yesterday, on day 238 of death fast demanding a fair trial, will be laid to rest in Istanbul today. As per her will, she will be buried next to her mother in the Gazi Cemetery.

In the meantime, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has rejected a request for Timtik’s sister Barkın Timtik, who is also a lawyer and jailed in Silivri Prison, to attend the funeral. The prosecutor cited the pandemic in rejecting the request.

Timtik will be laid to rest today following a march from Gazi Cemevi (Alevi place of worship) to the Gazi Cemetery.

Amid an ongoing police siege at Gazi Cemevi, Timtik’s relatives and lawyers are not allowed to get in.
