The European Association of Lawyers for Democracy & Human Rights (ELDH) will hold an online press conference today at 12.30 (Brussels time) on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan's right to meet with his lawyers.
The ELDH published a call titled “Hundreds of lawyers apply to visit Kurdish leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan” that will be shared today at the press conference.
Regarding the fact that no news has been heard from Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan since 25 March 2021, the text says: “The situation in Imrali prison is described by lawyers around the world as a special and discriminatory form of isolation. Abdullah Öcalan is seen worldwide as the Kurdish Nelson Mandela.”
The call also said that approximately 2000 lawyers sent a letter to the Turkish Ministry of Justice last week to visit the prison on the island of Imralı.
The online press conference will be held via Zoom and can be viewed at this link
