The intensity of the clashes between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and ISIS gangs in the center of Raqqa city has drastically risen within the last week. As the end of the gangs draws near inevitably, they hide among civilians and in Weteni Hospital, and other places which are out of the reach from airstrikes by the international coalition.
Fierce battles have been fought since the launch of Raqqa's liberation operation on 6 July, and at a time the SDF has liberated 70% of Raqqa from ISIS, the gangs are living their last minutes in Raqqa.
Weteni Hospital and its surrounding is one of the central regions which witness the fiercest clashes. Because the coalition forces do not shell these areas, ISIS gangs take that opportunity and position themselves in the whole area. ISIS snipers are positioned on the hospital and surrounding buildings.
Once the gangs are defeated here it will deal them a very heavy blow, as they set up a whole defense line around the hospital.
